A Call from the Ancients

A Call from the Ancients

I sense Your presence
Like waves of wind
Passions of fragrance
All amongst the generations
The nations, the genders
My father, long passed on
Still looks at me and calls me on
Time to bring the heart to life
Time to bring the heart to life
The drum begins to beat, growing stronger still
The sound of rushing waters, the blood is flowing
A cry rises up in the Spirit
A cry for overcoming on earth
Where the arrows in our quiver are fiery love
The casualties bring on new birth
The horses release a mighty thunder
Lightning guides the way
We bolt and thunder behind the pillar of cloud
We swarm behind the Fire of Day
Never taking our eyes off the Prize
Never, ever taking our eyes off the Prize
For victory is not my yearning hearts goal
It is the Victor Who I want to see

Motion

Motion

Lonely
Disenfranchised
Longing

Hoping
Cared for
Loved
Accepted
Family
Favored one
Favorite one
Placed on Father’s shoulder
Whispering in His ear
Feeling His laugh through my being
No longer alone
No longer alone
I am one with the Creator of the universe
He laughs with me
I am no longer alone
I never was alone
Reality is such an incredible thing
There is nothing like being with Dad
His laugh seems to always open my eyes
He heals my heart
Accepted
Welcome
Home

The Shadow

The Shadow

I was going through a darkness,
A darkness so thick, it was so hard to see
I could not see my face, I did not even know me
But then there was another darkness
That was quiet and warm and awesome and firm
And it completely drowned out the other, a mist of passionate dew
And then I felt the feathers and then and there I knew
It was the shadow of the Most High

I was walking through the wilderness
Nothing but the wild beasts and the dark ones
Waiting for their opportunity to pounce
I then felt goodness with every ounce
And the fear of nothing but the Lord came upon me
It was the shadow of the Most High

I came upon one with cancer
One with affliction, heartache and disease
I felt the oppression laughing
Thinking it could do whatever it pleased
And then I heard it shriek, I saw it vanish,
And I watched it melt before my eyes
My heart by the Presence was mesmerized
It was the shadow of the Most High

So you may be walking through a darkness
Where suddenly it seems darker still
But don’t be discouraged just open your heart
And trust Him, just trust Him until
You can sense Him too, knowing whatever you do
You are covered, protected, and warmed
By the shadow of the Most High

It’s the brightest place in the universe…

Winter Night

Winter Night

I love to watch the moon rise
Silver clouds dusting through the skies
It slowly climbs above the leafless trees
The Spirit comes in the midst of the freeze
The Spirit comes in the midst of the freeze

It’s light falls, gentle, and never harsh
It brings new light to the winter bark
And takes what is starving and makes it thrive
My heart takes it in and comes alive

I can look at the light that doesn’t burn my skin
I can look at the face and take Him all in
Yet I haven’t even started, not even begun
To receive all the light reflected from the great sun

The moon still is rising over leafless trees
The Spirit is moving through the mist and freeze
The quiet and stillness through which I silently plod
Remind me of the majesty and greatness of God

And I am simply overwhelmed by it all

Compassion (Matthew 14)

Compassion (Matthew 14)

In a time of greatest heartbreak
In the midst of just wanting to be alone
He showed us why He was worthy
To step down from heaven’s throne
And become the Savior for all of us

He still lived off of Father’s compassion
He still went an extra mile
Even pushing the disciples into their destiny
I can feel and see His smile
When He said, “Bring those things to Me.”

A simple prayer, a simple faith
In the goodness and power of God
And in the midst of great sorrow and need
Jesus gives a simple nod
And there is more than enough for all

In a time of greatest heartbreak
In the midst of just wanting to be alone
He waits to lead us to our destiny
He longs to show us His home
And allow us to bring it where we live

With basketfuls left over…
