Refractions

Refractions
Are You only found in simplicity
Or is it only in complexity?
Could it possibly be a “both” and an “and”
That brings us to the touch of a Father’s hand
Could it be my eyes are so close to me
That I cannot see the good that sets me free?
I sense the fears, the angers, the distractions
Not knowing the hopes that release the refractions
Sending the light in tens of thousands of directions
More colors than I could ever know
Whether I take it in, in its glorious context
Or whether I take it in fully without
There is still a hue, a vague, a shade, a glimpse
That brings a bright spark back in to my DNA.

The Moment

Often at sunset
when the sky is a series of colors indescribable
But every one of them a hue of violet and rose
It is at that moment I realize
There is a greater world
There is a reality more real than the one I know
It’s not that I don’t like the skies of blue
But it’s that these colors, these phases, these hues
Are stepping stones to a more lovely place
I can almost feel the air
it is alive
These moments are the moments living is all about
These moments are the moments my heart lets out a shout
Because it sees the things that I don’t see
It feels the things that I have never felt
Nor could ever feel
And survive to relive the experience
I simply wish sometimes these moments were eternal
Because I always realize that they are

answer

answer

so often we want answers in black and white
yet that is not how they come
that isn’t how it was designed
sure it makes it so much simpler
because things are so much simpler when they’re dead
so our answers come not at all
or when they do
they’re red and yellow
still missing some points
but that is not the point
the point is to enjoy the beauty and the wonder
as it contrasts against our blacks and whites
living things amongst the dead
the answer comes in yellow and red
